The Siipi Rectangular Dining Table — Solid Walnut with Sculpted Double-Wing Base
A rectangular dining table in solid American black walnut, designed to look as considered from the side as from above. The plateau is a single thick slab with gently organic, live edges that keep the ghost of the tree's natural outline. It rests on two sculptural wing bases, each a continuous curved sweep of solid walnut that narrows at the waist and flares to a broad, grounded foot — the grain following the curve because the form is carved from the wood, not veneered onto it.
At 300 × 120 cm it seats eight to ten comfortably and up to twelve when filled — a hosting table for a large dining room, a villa, or a private-dining setting, with the wing bases set inboard so the long sides seat without interruption. Seen from the end, the base reads as a wing at rest or an arch under tension; in a room it carries the presence of a single sculptural object rather than a piece of case furniture.
Solid walnut throughout, finished in natural matte oil that stays repairable over decades rather than sealed under a film. The live edge makes each top unique to its slab, and the wood deepens in tone with light and use. As an all-walnut construction there is no metal joint to loosen and no secondary material to date — it is built to be kept and passed on.
Made to order. Length can be adjusted, the slab and edge profile selected to taste, and the finish tuned to an existing scheme. Suitable for residential and contract use; trade and project quotations available.
